When I tell people I'm a professional organizer, they often ask me if my house is organized. Then I must confess: it's an ongoing battle, and the front lines are always moving. For the last couple of weeks, my office has been the site of several skirmishes. My opening salvo was a horizontal file cabinet, purchased at the Goodwill for $19.91. I have kept my eye out for one of those for a couple of years, so when I saw a nice one, I procured it for my arsenal. This month I will be focusing on decluttering, organizing, and setting up systems so that I can either stimulate or sooth my senses. I hope you'll find one or two things that you can implement in your life to make it more pleasing. It's a gift that you can give yourself, friends and family.
Today I am thinking about Valentine's Day, and doing some things to prepare for it. Valentine's day reminds us that love is a sensual experience--one that heightens all of our senses. Pleasant sensations regulate our brains, lifts our mood, and reminds us of the simple joy of being incarnate. I invite you to put aside some time this week to pamper yourself. And it's a great way to set the mood for romance.
